Data entry is computerized form of data which is done by experts. Every type of data is converted into electronic form whether it is hard copy, PDF file, online data or any other. It is done manually with complete accuracy. There are different types of data entry done on the demand of customers. Data entry is quite helpful in generating growth of your business.

Excel data entry is a form of data entry where data will be put into an excel sheet. There are numbers of ways which helps you to put accurate data into file. Below are few tips given which make your task much easier:

Select entire area to fill

Whenever you are entering data into an excel sheet, select the specific area where you will put the data and start typing. In such a way Excel scrolls entire area which you have selected automatically. This feature is controlled by setting in Excel Options > Advanced > Editing Options.

Excel Built-in list

This type of excel cell helps you type date, month and year systematically. Here you can type a month of the year in a cell then click in that cell to drag the till the bottom right corner of the cell in any direction to enter the months of the year. You can also type month in short form such as Jan, Feb rather than January and February.

DIY Custom Lists

With the help of this feature you can create your own list where you can fill the range of cells. You can create accordingly and category wise. You can choose this option with Excel Options > Advanced > General options and click Edit Custom Lists.  Then click New List and type the list entries in the list entries box, one per line. Next click Add to add this as a list.

Drag and fill features

This feature is used to fill dates and numbers. Here you can type a date into a cell and drag its fill handle to fill a sequence of dates. You also type the series of date which is more than one day apart. Let’s have an example, if you want to enter the date of each Monday, type the first two dates, select both cells and then drag the fill handle downwards. Excel recognizes this as a linear series with a skip value of 7 so it inserts each as successive date a date which is 7 days after the previous one.

Entering Weekdays

To enter weekdays this feature is amazing. To fill a range with weekdays in a month – skipping weekend days – type the first weekday into a cell and hold the right mouse button down as you drag the fill handle downwards. When you let go of the mouse a small popup menu appears from which you should select Fill Weekdays.
